Sasha's Bakery Special Menu: Sasha's Sweet Sensations
A tribute to my mother, Shindira. My mom taught me everything I needed to know to build the foundation of my journey of becoming my own chef when I grew up, just like her. She would say I'm her Sous Chef. When I was little, around 3 or 4, mommy had a cottage and catering business she named 'Sasha's Sweet Sensations'.
A few weeks before she passed, she told me that I was going to have a restaurant called 'Sasha's Quesadillas.' I was 18 years old and finishing up my freshman year of college. I loved making all things, but I absolutely LOVED making empanadas and quesadillas. I laughed and said "Haha, that's funny but I don't know if people would want any." She told me no, I was going to, and I would have my restaurant, 'Sasha's Quesadillas'. A few weeks later on July 4, 2020 she passed at 39 years old.
In January 2023, with two years left of college, I made it my mission to start my first serious business. I've always been an entrepreneur, but I was ready to grow my "baby" in a sense. An evergreen business, a business, a service or SOMETHING I could share with the world. I started brainstorming like crazy. 11 months later, I obtained my official Seller's Permit in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina for Sasha's Empandas.
Growing up I would help my mom make the empanadas and I thought they were so complicated. She said no, it's not, I will show you. Who knew 10 years later I'd have my own empanadas business. I guess a mother knows.
Sasha's Sweet Sensations is a tribute to my mother, Shindira Kennedy, a hussler, a fighter, a cook, a manager at Habitat, worked in Special Ed, did so many things that I couldn't even believe but she did it. I love you Mommy I can't wait to see you again and catch you up.
